PEACEFUL CONVENIENCE

Foothills Equestrian Center, located just minutes north of Hickory, is convenient to Lenoir, Statesville, Newton, and the surrounding areas. Located on 80 acres, F.E.C. is a peaceful oasis in which to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and discover the joys of horseback riding.

ABC’S OF HORSEMANSHIP

Students at F.E.C. are taught horsemanship with an emphasis on safety and understanding why a horse behaves the way it does. On horseback, students are instructed in Balanced Seat riding which is the basis for jumping, dressage, and pleasure riding. They are taught correct posture, balance, communication with the horse, and riding theory. On the ground, students learn to groom, lead, bridle, and saddle the horses they ride. When the weather does not permit mounted work, valuable lessons are held on the ground or in the classroom on topics of horse handling and care.

QUALITY INSTRUCTION

F.E.C.’s head instructor Dana Dewey, she has been teaching horsemanship for over 35 years. The staff of instructors, all have background with years of experience in Pony Club, 4-H, riding, training, and showing. American Riding Instructor Association certified, F.E.C. offers safe, fun, and challenging instruction to riders of all levels. F.E.C.’s high-quality school horses and ponies are gentle, dependable, and carefully selected. Many having recently retired from show careers.
