Saturday September 18th, 9:30 – 12:45
In these crazy times, we don’t always know if we are open, closed, or something in between. Closing up, both physically and mentally, can make us miss out on the information and opportunities that might be right in front of us. When it comes to riding - allowing and following are essential to effective control. It seems backward that letting go and opening up will actually give us more control, but so it is. The image below of Cyrus E Dallin’s statue, “Appeal to the Great Spirit” was often used by Sally Swift, founder of Centered Riding (r) in clinics and in her books.
Join us for a workshop exploring the concepts of opening up our posture and riding positions. Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and movement instructor, Lavinia Plonka, will lead a series of lessons exploring the connections of the mind, body and emotions. For those who wish to carry this onward into their riding, Certified Centered Riding instructor, Dana Dewey, will lead class connecting these lessons with the interaction with our horses. Lesson horses are available for use, or bring your own mount. Horses must be able to walk and trot (or similar gait) in small groups of other horses.
