Our Horsemanship Day Camp Program is tailored to meet the needs of horse lovers age 6 to 16 years at beginning levels and higher. Camps are formatted to accommodate various ages and levels and are open to all, unless otherwise noted.  Campers are assigned to groups according to experience, age and level allowing instructors to focus on the appropriate level of challenge while maintaining the utmost safety.   We are able to accept most disabled and para-equestrians (contact us prior to enrolling at: 828-381-0473 or email).  Early drop off and late pick up may be arranged.  Camp hours are listed below.

 

Included instruction:

In addition to fun and informative balanced seat riding instruction, campers will learn to feed, care for, and equip their horses. Campers will be taught to responsibly handle and work around horses with safety and confidence.   Camps feature daily riding instruction appropriate to rider skill addressing: Rider position & balance; Effective communication; Horse gaits & balance.  Craft materials, snacks and drinks are provided.

Dana Dewey ARIA certified Advanced Riding Instructor,  presents a complete horsemanship program appropriately geared to student ages and levels. A lifelong horsewoman, she has a unique approach to incorporating a sense of the responsibilities and the rewards of correct horsemanship with insights into Centered Riding biomechanics and over 40 years of horse training.

 

Horsemanship Day Camps Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 12:00 noon OPEN TO ALL LEVELS

Each week focuses on the total horsemanship package. Health care and an emphasis on the responsibilities of owning and caring for a horse will be placed front and center.  Beginners will learn the basics of grooming, care and fitting of equipment, basic balanced seat riding position in English saddles, control of the horse and use of correct aids.  More advanced campers may explore the concepts of horse training and behavior modification, along with advanced care and management. Advanced topics of training, management and care will be offered.  Instruction may include introduction of dressage concepts, jumping and how to handle or prevent bad behavior habits in horses. 

Trail riding is expected to be a part of each camp week - weather permitting.

Fun crafts and games make this a week full of smiles for all ages and levels developing new and lasting friendships with other campers and horses.

ADVANCED HORSEMANSHIP CAMP GROUP Offered to specially approved riders. Topics will include health care relevant to horse owners and advanced riding, training and showing principles. This is a very "hands on" camp group with a great deal of on one on one instruction for advancement of both horse and rider training.  We have limited availability for haul-ins with boarding for these days.  Please call for availability.

Full payment to reserve spot for any week $275.00 if paid prior to June 15th, $300.00 if paid june 16 or later.  Payments made online are subject to service fees.  Haulin boarding fee additional.

Refund of deposit less $50 office fee only if cancellation is received at least 30 days prior to first day of camp.

No refunds will be issued within 30 days of the camp start date.
